Born and raised in West Philly, with time also spent in Northeast Philadelphia, Surf7 grew up learning from the people and experiences around him. His relationship with his father was distant, but he found guidance in other places, including his grandfather, a military veteran, and a middle school teacher named Mr. Waller, who became a positive influence during his younger years.
As a kid, Surf7 was heavily into sports, but that changed around the age of 12. Around the same time, he began developing an early sense of independence and a desire to make money. He started trying different ways to hustle, selling various items and learning early that if he wanted something, he had to go after it.
Those experiences became part of the foundation that would eventually shape him as an artist.
Musically, Surf7 found major inspiration outside of Philadelphia. The Chicago rap scene caught his attention, and Lud Foe quickly became his favorite rapper. Surf7 considers Lud Foe one of the greatest and most underrated artists to ever do it. G Herbo and Osama also became part of his musical influences, while newer artists like Wreck Baby, Fat Mac, and Little Tony continued to shape what he listened to. At the same time, he appreciated older voices in rap such as 38 Spesh and Benny the Butcher.
Music wasn’t always something Surf7 planned to turn into a career.
At first, his mindset was simple. He wanted to make music, sign a deal and eventually stop rapping. But once his music started gaining traction on platforms like TikTok and SoundCloud, his perspective began to change. The response showed him that people were actually connecting with what he was creating.
His first song, “FRM DA JETZ,” was released on SoundCloud and quickly started gaining attention. The early response caught him by surprise, but it also gave him the motivation to keep going. Instead of slowing down, Surf7 became more committed to consistency.
That consistency has become one of the biggest parts of his journey. In only a few months, he has already recorded more than 50 songs, continuing to build his catalog while developing his own sound and identity.
Throughout the journey, records like “Goose Coat,” “7AM In NY,” “Part 1,” and “FRM DA JETZ” have helped tell the story of where Surf7 has been and where he is headed.
What started as an idea to make music and get a deal has turned into something much bigger. Surf7 realized he genuinely enjoys creating, and now he’s focused on taking the music seriously and seeing how far he can take it.
The journey is still early, but the work rate is already showing.
Now Surf7 continues that momentum with his latest single, “GET IN MODE,” currently available on all streaming platforms. With more music recorded, more experiences to pull from, and a growing audience beginning to pay attention, Surf7 is entering the next chapter of his career on his own terms.
