Tyler Watts: A Young R&B Talent Rooted in Family, Faith, and Soul

Tyler Watts was born and raised in Miami Gardens, Florida—a place he proudly calls home. Growing up surrounded by family, he describes his childhood as supportive and grounded in strong values. That foundation would later play a big role in shaping both the man and the artist he is becoming today.

Music entered Tyler’s life early. He began singing at just five years old and wrote his first song by the age of ten. One of his earliest memories performing came unexpectedly at his grandmother’s birthday party when he was around six years old. A projector malfunction ruined the plan to play a prerecorded video, so Tyler stepped in and sang live instead. What started as a last-minute solution turned into his first real performance—and a moment that hinted at the path ahead.

As he grew older, music continued to follow him through school. In elementary school, Tyler participated in talent shows, including performing in a group inspired by the legendary R&B group New Edition. The group performed the classic song Candy Girl, giving Tyler one of his earliest experiences performing R&B in front of an audience.

Church also played a major role in his musical upbringing. Like many great R&B singers before him, Tyler developed his voice in the church, singing during services and special occasions. One meaningful moment came when he performed at his grandparents’ vow renewal ceremony—an experience that reinforced the connection between his faith, his family, and his love for music.

Throughout his journey, Tyler credits his family as his biggest support system. While he was the only one in his family pursuing singing professionally, they remained behind him every step of the way, encouraging his talent and believing in his potential.

Today, Tyler Watts is building a name for himself as a rising R&B singer and songwriter. His sound blends classic R&B emotion with the smooth, laid-back energy of Miami. The result is a style that feels both nostalgic and fresh—rooted in tradition but reflective of his city’s vibrant culture.

His growing buzz began to build around the release of his breakout single Prettiest Girl. The record helped introduce him to a wider audience and continues to gain attention from listeners who appreciate heartfelt R&B.

Toward the end of 2025, Tyler expanded his catalog with the release of his double-disc album Youngin Pt.2. The project highlights his versatility as both a singer and songwriter while showcasing collaborations with notable artists. Key songs from the album include “Anything To Know,” “Fall In Love,” and “Youngin,” which features Major Nine.

The project also includes “Peep Hole,” featuring Miami artist Ball Greezy, and the fan-favorite “Prettiest Girl (QueMix)” featuring Jacquees.

Adding to the momentum, the official video for Prettiest Girl is currently available on YouTube, giving fans a visual to go along with one of his standout records.

With his smooth vocals, strong songwriting, and authentic connection to his roots, Tyler Watts is continuing to carve out his place in modern R&B. From singing in church and school talent shows to releasing full-length projects, his journey reflects dedication, passion, and the unwavering support of the family and community that raised him.
