Cidy Pyramids: From Fayetteville Roots to a Life Built on Hustle

Cidy Pyramids’ journey begins in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he was raised by a strong single mother alongside two siblings. His childhood wasn’t loud or chaotic—just real, grounded, and built on the quiet resilience that would later define his music. He spent most of his early years between school, home, and basketball courts, using the game as both an outlet and a compass.

Unlike many kids his age, Cidy wasn’t always outside chasing trouble or trying to be seen. Most of the time, his “hangout spots” were the gyms around the city—Fuller, Funk, Ritz Epps, E.E. Miller, Hoke, Fayetteville Christian, Smith Rec Center—places where Fayetteville kids sharpened skills, built friendships, and found their flow. The rest of his downtime was spent at friends’ houses, cracking jokes, talking life, and soaking up the everyday experiences that would later inspire his lyrics.

Music didn’t hit him early. It wasn’t one of those stories where a kid picks up a mic at nine years old. For Cidy, the curiosity started around college—something he toyed with, something fun, but never something he viewed as a serious path. At least not yet.

Everything changed around age 24. Suddenly, the hobby became a purpose. The sound in his head grew louder than the doubt, and the studio became a place where he could shape his future.

Ask Cidy what shaped him, and he’ll point straight to the blog era—one of hip-hop’s most influential waves. The list is elite: Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Mac Miller, Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T., Dom Kennedy, plus legends like Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne.

These artists taught him versatility, fearlessness, and the power of staying true to your voice. And that’s exactly why he refuses to box himself in.

“I don’t think any of my albums sound the same,” he’ll tell you. “But I’ll say this—I make music for the hustlers. For the people who never let hardship or struggle slow them down.”

Most of Cidy’s recent work has been recorded with Justin Pearson at Pyramid Rehearsal Studios, INC, a space where his ideas finally started to feel like real chapters in a growing story. Every session sharpened his craft. Every record carried another piece of the journey.

Cidy’s most recent release is “Violins,” currently live on Instagram and YouTube. It’s a glimpse into his upcoming album, “AKA SAMO,” a body of work that promises evolution, honesty, and grit.

Next up is his single “Kill For Respect,” followed by “TV,” a collaboration with William Prize. Track by track, Cidy continues carving his own lane, moving with intent and refusing to let the momentum slow down.

For every step he’s taken, Cidy knows he didn’t move alone. He keeps his foundation close:

God. AZUS Records. His business partner Kelsey. His mother. His girlfriend Shawnesi. His siblings Nay & T. His cousins Yazzy & Jay.

And every person who supports in any way—whether it’s a comment, a share, a recommendation, or simply pressing play.

This journey is his, but the love powering it is collective.
