Corey Love’s story starts on the North Side of Yonkers, New York, where sports, friendships, and community helped shape the person he would become. Growing up, most of his days were spent playing basketball with friends and making memories at local parties. One place that left a lasting impression was the Nepperhan Community Center, just a short walk from home. Every summer, the center hosted a basketball tournament led by Jadakiss, bringing together music, competition, and culture. With a live DJ, celebrity guests like Allen Iverson and Nate Robinson, and packed-out basketball games, it became more than just a neighborhood event. It was where Corey first fell in love with the culture, even if he didn’t realize music would eventually become his path.
As a kid, another place that felt like home was the YMCA. Whether it was dancing with friends, playing in basketball leagues, or simply getting workouts in, the YMCA became part of his daily routine and a place where lifelong memories were made.
Music didn’t enter his life as a career until later. At 24 years old, Corey Love started recording as a way to vent and release everything he was carrying. What began as an outlet quickly turned into a passion. Night after night, he dedicated himself to improving, believing that consistency would eventually pay off. That commitment has allowed him to steadily grow as both an artist and a songwriter.
Growing up, Lil Wayne was his favorite artist, while J. Cole and Drake became the biggest inspirations behind his own music. Their honesty and ability to connect with listeners through real-life experiences motivated Corey to tell his own story. While he says his sound is still evolving, listeners can already hear those influences in his music through thoughtful lyrics and relatable storytelling.
Most of the music Corey has released today has been recorded at New Legends Studio in Long Island, where he continues to sharpen his craft. It’s also where he recorded one of his latest singles, “Keep The Flowers.”
At its core, “Keep The Flowers” is a record about self-validation. It’s a reminder that you don’t have to wait for outside recognition to appreciate your own growth. The message is simple but powerful, speaking to anyone who has ever felt overlooked or like their efforts weren’t being acknowledged.
Corey Love isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Along with weekly solo releases, he’s also preparing new music with his group, DCMW, as they work toward releasing a new EP.
As he continues building his career, Corey makes sure to recognize the people who have been part of the journey. He gives thanks to engineers Ali, Rashad, and Lilo for helping shape his sound, Kid Gianni and CHD for bringing his visual ideas to life, his DCMW brothers TV The Chef and Nxvablu Banks, his family for their constant support, and most importantly, God for continuing to open doors and provide opportunities to pursue his purpose.
