For 03 Greedo, the story starts long before the music, shaped by a childhood that forced him to grow up quickly. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Greedo’s upbringing was spread across several neighborhoods, including Watts, Compton, Gardena and South Central. Rather than identifying with just one area, he describes his childhood as moving between different parts of the city, with family members living throughout Los Angeles.
His home life was far from stable. Greedo lost his father when he was only one year old, and his grandparents passed away while he was still in elementary school. Without the traditional family structure many children grow up with, he often found himself having to figure things out on his own.
There were periods when he was homeless, staying wherever he could and even sleeping on the subway. He recalls being kicked out and spending time on the streets, experiences that shaped his outlook and eventually led him toward the structure he found through gang affiliation.
Even through the difficulties, Greedo had a personality that stood out. In school, he was known as the class clown and someone who naturally attracted attention. That same personality would later become an important part of his presence as an artist.
Music entered his life early. Around 12 years old, Greedo began recording his voice over beats. Without access to professional recording equipment, he used his phone to make music. The limitations of those early recordings helped create the raw, unpolished sound that would eventually become part of his identity. Rather than trying to erase that quality, Greedo embraced it.
His influences also helped shape the artist he would become. He has pointed to artists such as ODB, Busta Rhymes and Fabolous as inspirations, particularly when it came to personality, image and performance.
Before the wider industry began paying attention, Greedo was already building a name within his own community. His music had been gaining momentum among his peers and throughout the local scene, but his progress was repeatedly interrupted by legal problems and time spent in jail.
Still, he kept going.
Songs like “Seduction” became early signs of what Greedo was capable of, helping push his music beyond his immediate circle. His career was never an overnight success. It was built through years of recording, setbacks, persistence and continued growth.
Along the way, Greedo created a catalog that includes records such as “Seduction,” “Sweet Lady,” “Trap House,” “Run For Yo Life,” “If I Part 2,” “Baby Sittin,” “Tricc on Just Anybody” and “In The Morning.” Each record represents another chapter in a career that has continued to evolve while staying connected to the sound and experiences that shaped him.
Now, 03 Greedo is revisiting a record that fans have been waiting years to hear. Eight years after the original snippet first surfaced, “It’s I Pt. 3” featuring Ty Dolla $ign is finally out and currently available on all streaming platforms.
