Growing up in East Baltimore, G9ngstab9by was surrounded by a family dynamic that shaped who she would eventually become. As the only girl among her brothers, she spent much of her childhood around them, learning from their experiences and developing a personality of her own.
Her childhood came with challenges, especially when it came to school and dealing with authority figures. G9ngstab9by recalls having a difficult relationship with the school system and getting placed on probation at just eight years old. While school was a struggle, she remembers life outside of it differently. She had fun growing up and found support in her older brothers, who played a major role in her development.
At home, her father was strict, with rules that heavily restricted what she could and couldn’t do. As she got older and her circumstances changed, her perspective on those rules changed as well. Looking back, those early experiences became part of the foundation that shaped her outlook on life.
Her brothers also introduced her to music at an early age. Several of them rapped, giving G9ngstab9by a firsthand look at the culture and creativity surrounding music. She didn’t grow up with many female friends either, joking that being raised around her brothers had a lot to do with that.
By the age of 12, G9ngstab9by describes herself as having “jumped off the porch,” becoming more involved in the street life around her. She credits her environment and the influence of her brothers as major factors behind that transition. It was another chapter of her upbringing that would ultimately become part of the story she tells through her music.
Her path into music, however, didn’t begin in a traditional studio. It started with a phone and social media.
G9ngstab9by began posting short freestyle videos on TikTok, simply putting herself out there and letting people hear what she could do. The response quickly grew. What started with videos receiving around 20,000 views eventually turned into numbers surpassing 500,000 views.
The attention continued building even though she hadn’t officially recorded a song yet. Her supporters began encouraging her to turn one of her viral snippets, “Big Bad,” into a full record. She listened to her audience, stepped into a studio for the first time, and recorded the song. “Big Bad” eventually became her first official music video and a turning point in her journey.
From there, G9ngstab9by realized music wasn’t just something she enjoyed—it was something she wanted to pursue as a career.
Her growing presence eventually caught the attention of another major name in hip-hop. Juicy J reached out to her directly through Instagram and proposed working together. He later flew her out to Los Angeles, and the two have remained locked in, continuing to work together and build.
Throughout her journey, G9ngstab9by has continued to release music that reflects her personality, experiences, and growth. Records like “Betta Not,” “Bi9 Bad,” “Master of Detachment,” “All Yall,” and “Gotta Nigga” have helped establish her sound and identity.
In 2025, she released her album Reality Check, a 15-track project featuring just one guest appearance from Juicy J. The project gave listeners another look into the world of G9ngstab9by and the artist she has continued to become.
Now, she continues to push forward with her latest single, “Like Me,” currently available on all streaming platforms.
