The Vision Behind DÀRÉ: A Young Creative With Bigger Plans

Growing up in Union, New Jersey, DÀRÉ was always curious about how things came together creatively. Raised in a two-parent household with a mother who works as a nurse and a father who is a pastor, he developed an early interest in media, film, and visual storytelling. Watching movies often left him wondering how certain scenes were created and how ideas were transformed into something people could see.

Even at a young age, he took ownership of his creativity seriously. He remembers placing copyright marks with his name on school assignments, a small but telling sign that he wanted to create something of his own. What started as curiosity gradually became a passion that would shape his future.

DÀRÉ’s journey began with filmmaking, short videos, music, and experimenting with different creative ideas. One of his earliest opportunities to develop his skills came through his church’s media team. With his father recognizing his interest and helping him get involved, he began creating graphics for the church. As his work gained attention, people started offering to pay him for his designs.

That experience helped him recognize the potential to turn his talent into a career. Rather than limiting himself to individual graphics, he became interested in the bigger picture: how visuals communicate an artist’s identity, establish a mood, and bring an entire project together. This interest eventually led him toward creative direction, where he could help shape a project’s overall vision.

Today, DÀRÉ is the founder of 404, an independent digital creative showcase where he explores graphic design, visual identities, album artwork, and experimental concepts. While 404 provides a platform for his creative work, his name remains at the center of his mission to establish himself as a designer and creative director.

What makes DÀRÉ’s journey particularly notable is that he is still a high school senior while actively pursuing professional opportunities. He has already connected with established artists, athletes, actors, and other public figures through his design work, building a portfolio that includes projects associated with Patrick Beverley, the Newman family, Is0Kenny, DDG, Keemstudio, Hitta J3, KidTokio, and MALACHAI.

He is also working with actor and artist Lonnie Chavis on his upcoming music project, Testing the Waters, designing the album cover and additional visuals for the rollout. The opportunity represents another step forward as he continues developing his creative approach and building relationships within the industry.

His progress has also received recognition from TAPinto, which featured his development as a young creative and his independent design work. Still, DÀRÉ sees his accomplishments as the beginning rather than the destination. He understands how far he has come, but he remains focused on the much larger goals ahead of him.

One of the most recognizable elements of DÀRÉ’s visual identity is the tape he places over his mouth in his designs. The concept represents a simple philosophy: less talking, more creating.

Having experienced people question his abilities and the quality of his work, he has chosen to respond through his craft rather than lengthy explanations. The tape serves as a reminder that he would rather let people experience his creativity firsthand than spend time trying to convince them of his potential.

It is more than a visual signature. It reflects his mindset as a young designer working to establish his name on his own terms. For DÀRÉ, the goal is to create work that communicates his vision without needing an explanation.

DÀRÉ credits God as the foundation of his journey and remains grateful for the opportunities he has received. He also recognizes the important role his parents have played in helping him develop his abilities and step outside his comfort zone. His father’s encouragement and introduction to the church’s media team provided an early opportunity to learn, practice, and build the skills he uses today.

He also acknowledges his friends, family, and the members of SOULIS, the creative collective he belongs to. Alongside fellow members Saint Vert, Prodzeph, Jerzsame, also known as DJ Samy, and 4XDEEEE, he is surrounded by other creatives working toward their own goals. He also extends his appreciation to his aunts, uncles, Derick, and everyone who has supported and encouraged him along the way. Their belief in his abilities has played an important role in his development, and he does not take those relationships for granted.

With more ideas to explore and a growing portfolio behind him, DÀRÉ is focused on expanding his reach as a graphic designer and creative director. Between his work on Testing the Waters, the continued development of 404, and his own evolving visual identity, he is creating opportunities to push his creativity further.

Although he recognizes the progress he has made, he believes he has only scratched the surface of what he can accomplish. His focus remains on sharpening his skills, developing stronger concepts, connecting with more creatives, and building something that extends beyond individual projects.

Coming out of New Jersey, DÀRÉ represents a young creative determined to make the most of his talent without waiting for the perfect opportunity. His story is still being written, but his approach is already clear: stay grounded, keep creating, and let the work speak for itself.
