Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, Sque3eze was raised in a single-parent household by his mother while his father served a prison sentence for second-degree murder. With his father absent during much of his childhood, it was his family and community that stepped in to help shape the man he would become.
Surrounded by strong women and guided by positive male figures such as his uncles, godfather, and football coaches, Sque3eze learned valuable lessons about leadership, responsibility, and character at an early age. Looking back, he credits every person who played a role in his upbringing for helping build the foundation he stands on today.
Long before he stepped into a recording booth, Sque3eze found comfort in writing. As a child, he spent his time creating stories and poetry, developing a love for words that would later evolve into songwriting. By the time he was in second grade, he had already started experimenting with writing songs.
His introduction to music came through one of his older cousins who rapped. One day, his cousin played him a song through a boombox, and the experience left a lasting impression. As a young kid, he couldn’t understand how a voice could be captured inside a speaker, but he knew he wanted to learn. That curiosity would eventually become a lifelong passion.
A major turning point came when he was nearly sixteen years old. After years of incarceration, his father was released from prison, and Sque3eze traveled with his mother and sister to New York to see him. During their visit, his father asked a simple question: “Do you rap?”
Ironically, just one week earlier, Sque3eze had finished writing his first two songs.
After hearing his answer, his father wasted no time. The very next morning, he had Sque3eze in the studio recording those songs with a friend. What started as a single recording session became the beginning of a journey that continues today.
As his love for music grew, two artists became the foundation of his creative identity: Nas and Lauryn Hill.
Nas was the first artist who truly connected with him. Even as a child with limited life experience, Sque3eze was drawn to Nas’ storytelling and ability to paint vivid pictures through words. His music felt relatable, understandable, and powerful.
Lauryn Hill became equally important. Her voice, spirit, and presence reminded him of his mother. The way she blended lyricism, creativity, soul, and purpose resonated deeply with him. Because of their influence, Sque3eze often refers to Nas and Lauryn Hill as his musical father and mother.
Today, Sque3eze describes his sound as “cinematic rap for the mind, body, and soul.”
Rather than limiting himself to one style, he approaches music the same way a filmmaker approaches a movie soundtrack. Every moment requires a different emotion, a different mood, and a different energy. His music reflects the complexity of life and the many layers that make people who they are.
At the center of his artistry is the concept of Mind, Body, and Soul — a philosophy rooted in balance and self-expression. For Sque3eze, music should reflect every part of the human experience, not just one side of it.
Throughout his career, his music has been created in various places that each represent a different chapter of his journey. Some songs were recorded independently at home. Others came together in Boston at The Sound Lab alongside producer Too Deep. He has also recorded in New York with his uncle, Uncle Shiz, and in Atlanta with longtime collaborator John Skeete, who engineered his entire EP and contributed to several records.
Behind every project stands a network of talented creatives, engineers, and collaborators who have helped bring his vision to life.
Outside of music, some of his favorite memories come from the simple moments growing up. During middle school, he and his friend Niz would regularly stop at McDonald’s or Walgreens after school. With money often tight, they made the most of the dollar menu, and Sque3eze still appreciates how often his friend looked out for him during those years.
As he got older, the scene shifted from after-school hangouts to house parties across the city. It wasn’t about one particular location. It was about who was hosting, what street the party was on, and which DJ was controlling the energy for the night. Those moments became some of the most memorable experiences of his youth.
Today, Sque3eze continues to build momentum with new music. His recent single, “Rock” (R-O-C-K),delivers an energetic sound that showcases his ability to create records that connect with listeners on multiple levels.
His project “Looong Story Short” serves as his formal introduction to the world, presenting his cinematic approach to rap while fully embracing the Mind, Body, and Soul concept that defines his artistry.
