From Haiti to Louisiana: The Journey of Lil’Saint

Born in Gressier, Haiti, and now based in Louisiana, Lil’Saint is an artist whose story is shaped by loss, faith, perseverance, and a commitment to becoming the person he knows he can be. His journey began at a young age, but the experiences he faced growing up helped give his music a deeper purpose.

Lil’Saint lost his father before he was born and his mother when he was just five years old. At nine, he was adopted into a Christian family, marking a new chapter in his life. That same year, he started school and discovered his passion for rap. What began as a childhood interest would eventually grow into a serious pursuit, giving him a way to express himself and share his perspective with the world.

His early years were also shaped by his Haitian roots and the experiences of adjusting to life between two countries. In 2017, he and his family first traveled to the United States, making trips back and forth between Haiti and America. He spent a year attending seventh grade in the U.S. before returning to Haiti. In 2019, another extended stay in America began when travel plans continued to be delayed. With gang violence and unsafe conditions making it difficult to return to Haiti, Louisiana eventually became home.

Despite the challenges and changes along the way, Lil’Saint has continued working toward his goals. He is now a junior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, studying management while building his music career. As a dual citizen of Haiti and the United States, he speaks Haitian Creole, French, and English. No matter where life takes him, his Haitian heritage remains an important part of his identity.

Growing up, Lil’Saint found inspiration in artists like Lecrae and NF. Their influence went beyond their sound. He connected with the honesty in their music, particularly their willingness to discuss personal struggles, express their faith, and use their experiences to connect with others. Their approach helped him understand that music could be more than entertainment. It could also be a way to tell his story and give listeners something meaningful to take away.

When he wasn’t focused on music, the tennis court was one of his main hangout spots. Tennis played a major role in his childhood, giving him another outlet outside of his growing interest in rap.

As his musical journey continued, Lil’Saint began developing his own skills behind the scenes. He initially recorded himself and eventually gained experience as a sound engineer, allowing him to understand both the creative and technical sides of music production. Along with recording his own material, he has spent time working at Dream Studio, continuing to refine his sound and bring his ideas to life. He has also reached the opportunity to open for Christian hip-hop artist Derek Minor, adding another milestone to his journey.

While he respects the artists who helped inspire him, Lil’Saint is focused on establishing an identity of his own. He wants listeners to recognize his voice, understand his perspective, and connect with what he brings to the music. His goal is not simply to follow the path of those who came before him, but to create something that reflects who he is.

His latest album, Concrete Dream, represents the music he is currently putting forward. One standout track he wants listeners to check out is “CODEINE CRAZY (If Love’s A Drug),” which has been gaining attention. With that momentum building, he hopes to introduce more people to the full project and continue expanding his audience.

There is also more on the way. Lil’Saint is currently working on an EP while developing the concept for another album. With new music in progress and more stories he wants to share, he is focused on growing as an artist while balancing the responsibilities of college life.

Through it all, Lil’Saint recognizes the importance of having people who believe in him. He gives a special shoutout to his best Haitian friend, Chrisle, who has consistently encouraged him and told him he would become one of the biggest artists. He also acknowledges his best friend, Ethan Hurst, whom he met at Fuge Camp in the United States. Their friendship and support have remained meaningful parts of his journey.
