Emerging from Bakersfield, California, Reginald Wavy is one of the most talented up and coming artist out the city. Now based in Los Angeles, the independent artist brings a broader perspective to his music, drawing from his hometown roots, time spent traveling the world, and nearly a decade of growth as an artist.
Growing up in Bakersfield played a major role in shaping Wavy’s mindset. Coming from a city where pursuing bigger opportunities requires determination, he learned early on the importance of independence, resilience, and staying focused on his goals. Although Bakersfield will always be home, he knew he wanted to experience more of what the world had to offer and create something meaningful with his life.
Some of his memories growing up include spending time at Riverwalk Park, The Bluffs, and house parties around the city. Those experiences connected him to the culture of the Central Valley and the people who helped shape his perspective. While his journey has taken him beyond his hometown, Bakersfield remains an important part of his identity.
Before fully pursuing music, Wavy joined the United States Navy, an experience that allowed him to travel and spend time overseas, including in Italy. Seeing different places and experiencing life outside his familiar surroundings helped him grow as a person and gain a broader understanding of the world. Those experiences continue to influence his outlook and contribute to the perspective he brings to his music today.
His musical journey officially began at 21. Inspired by the West Coast sound, Wavy developed an appreciation for artists who could combine personality, storytelling, and authenticity into records that connected with listeners. Artists such as DJ Quik, Suga Free, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg helped shape his musical ear and appreciation for the culture.
What started as a creative outlet gradually became a serious pursuit. Over the past decade, Wavy has continued developing his sound, learning the business behind the music, and working toward building a sustainable career. His catalog has generated approximately four million streams, marking meaningful progress for an independent artist who remains focused on what comes next.
Wavy describes his style as West Coast hip-hop with a smooth, confident, and cinematic feel. His music is made for listeners who appreciate records they can ride to, vibe to, and connect with. Rather than limiting himself to one approach, he moves between energetic records, melodic sounds, and more personal material while maintaining a recognizable identity.
For Wavy, being wavy represents more than an artist name. It reflects confidence, individuality, and the freedom to move through life on your own terms. That mindset carries into his music and the way he approaches his career.
Now based in Los Angeles, Wavy continues refining his craft and working with other creatives. Much of his music has been recorded at The HMRN in Burbank, California, giving him a space to develop his sound while continuing to build within the Southern California music scene.
His latest single, “Glide,” released on October 23, 2026, reflects the smooth, confident direction he is taking musically. He also released “45,” featuring Tariq Hollow, on October 2, adding to his growing catalog as he works to introduce his sound to a wider audience. With another single scheduled for November 2, Wavy is focused on staying consistent and continuing to build momentum.
On November 14, 2026, he is set to perform at Soundwave Social in Bakersfield, bringing his music back to the city where his journey began. For an artist who has spent years growing beyond his hometown, returning to perform there carries its own significance.
Looking ahead, Wavy wants to establish a lasting career, travel the world performing, and continue reaching new listeners. His goal is not simply to release music but to build something sustainable through consistency, hard work, and a genuine commitment to his craft.
Throughout his journey, he remains grateful to the supporters who have streamed his records, shared his videos, attended his shows, and helped spread his name. He also recognizes the producers, engineers, videographers, collaborators, and creatives who have contributed to bringing his vision to life.
