Growing up in St. Louis, BlakeIANA describes her childhood as “real ratchet but fun.” She spent most of her time outside with friends, enjoying life while also understanding the realities that came with growing up in a city known for its violence. Even with its challenges, she looks back on her hometown with appreciation, recognizing that it helped shape the person she is today.
Music was always a part of her life. One of her earliest memories is listening to Chris Brown, and instead of spending hours watching television, she found herself glued to YouTube watching music videos. Being surrounded by people involved in music made the industry feel familiar, planting the seed long before she ever stepped into a recording booth.
Before music became her career, BlakeIANA built a name for herself doing lashes. She started the business while she was still in high school and continued through 2022. As time went on, her passion began shifting. Music kept pulling her in, and eventually she realized that creating records meant more to her than doing beauty work.
Seeing artists like Sexyy Red and GloRilla break through gave her the confidence to believe she could do the same. Watching women from similar backgrounds win on a major level made pursuing rap feel possible instead of just a dream.
Her official music journey began in 2022. At first, she would visit the studio with her cousin just to be around the creative process. For months, she quietly wrote lyrics in her notes before finally finding the confidence to record her own music. That decision would end up changing everything.
Just two days before New Year’s at the end of 2022, BlakeIANA posted a trailer for her music on Instagram and TikTok. The response was immediate. The excitement surrounding the preview gave her the push she needed to officially release the music video for “BING BONG” on March 3, 2023. Within about two weeks, labels and industry executives were reaching out with interest, creating the first major breakthrough of her career.
Since then, BlakeIANA has continued building momentum while collaborating with artists including Tee Grizzley, Sexyy Red, MoneyBagg Yo, Skilla Baby, and more. Along the way, records like “BING BONG,” “GAHDAMN,” “Benefits,” “Pricey,” and “STL Finest” have helped establish her as one of the standout voices coming out of St. Louis.
BlakeIANA continues to elevate her sound with every release, and her newest single, “Nun Wit Me,” is available now on all streaming platforms. As her catalog continues to grow, she’s showing that her journey is only getting started.
