Representing both Portsmouth and Chesapeake, Virginia, Baby Rhii spent most of her life in Chesapeake, but it was during her time living in Portsmouth that she first began taking music seriously.
Growing up, Baby Rhii describes herself as a rebellious student who often skipped class and found herself getting into trouble. However, behind that reputation was a focused and intelligent student. Despite her behavior in school, she was an honors student who consistently earned strong grades and eventually graduated high school early.
Her inspiration also comes from unexpected places. Baby Rhii has expressed her love for 70s and 80s rock music, explaining that she finds a deeper connection with those sounds compared to some of today’s music. That wide range of influences plays a major role in helping her create a style that does not fit into one box.
Baby Rhii’s introduction to recording and creating music came through the support of her boyfriend, who helped her learn the process and encouraged her to pursue music as a serious career. What started as a new creative outlet quickly developed into a bigger passion.
Although she is currently focused on pushing rap, Baby Rhii’s musical taste stretches far beyond one genre. She has an appreciation for pop-rock, country, and different styles of music that influence her creativity. She gravitates toward melodic rap and artists who blend emotion with lyrics, mentioning artists like YoungBoy Never Broke Again and G Herbo as influences.
Since officially pushing her music career, Baby Rhii has continued to build momentum through consistency and strategic moves. She has been releasing music since 2023, steadily growing her name and reaching new audiences. A major moment in her journey came through her collaboration with ScarLip, which helped increase her visibility and introduced her music to more listeners.
Her time spent in New York also played an important role in her growth. Building relationships and networking with other artists, including connections like Twin, helped open new doors and expand her reach outside of Virginia.
In 2024, Baby Rhii released her debut album “The Beginning,” a 9-track project featuring appearances from Skilla Baby and Avon. The project represented an important chapter in her career, giving fans a deeper introduction to her sound and artistic direction.
